The purpose of this policy is to protect children and young people who attend the Drake O’Connor school of Irish dance. The school has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people and to keep them safe.
We will seek to keep children and young people safe by:
-Valuing them, listening to and respecting them
-All dance teachers are DBS checked and hold public liability insurance. There will always be a first aider present during lessons.
-Recording and storing information professionally and securely.
-Children will not be allowed to leave lessons unless a responsible adult is there to collect them.
Anti-Bullying Policy
The Drake O’Connor School of Irish Dance is committed to providing a friendly, and safe environment for all dancers so they can learn in a secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable. If bullying does occur, all dancers should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell their dance teacher.

Equal Opportunities Statement
The dance school aims to ensure there are equal opportunities for all participants and also values diversity.
We aim to make sure the lessons are within a safe and inclusive
environment where everyone feels welcome and that they belong.
We will take positive action to include
differentiation within our sessions where applicable to provide the most
efficient dance or exercise session for every individual.
Health and safety
The dance school aims to protect students and other persons against risk to their health or safety which might arise out of activities in those places.
Regular risk assessments will be carried out, and we will implement any
possible action to rectify a health and safety issue.
